Rotary Club of Fort Myers presents Backyard Family Bash on Oct. 22

Hometown pride is the theme of the inaugural Backyard Family Bash, presented by Rotary Club of Fort Myers, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. onSunday, Oct. 22 on the expansive lawn at the Alliance for the Arts. Bring your kids, neighbors, dog, chair and blankets, and enjoy hometown food, music and fun. Proceeds benefit local nonprofits through the Fort Myers Rotary Trust Fund. Where did July disappear to?!! Here we are in August, a month when the Rotary world recognizes Membership and New Club Extensions. I was shocked recently to learn that Rotary membership in North America has fallen from around 443,000 members in 1997 to 344,000 in just 20 years. Here in the US, preliminary reports suggest that membership fell by 5,000 members in the past year alone. At last month’s District Conference four District clubs entered the 4 Way Test Essay contest: The Rotary Club of Cape Coral Rotary Club of Englewood The Rotary Club of Marco Island Sunrise The Sanibel-Captiva Rotary  4-Way Essay overall winners Julia Dry and Alyssa Perez submitted from The Sanibel-Captiva Rotary, received Rotary District #6960 top awards.
